Chewing the yummiest, grapeist gum, skipping along the longest stretch of sidewalk comes close to the childish excitement I feel when I put their record, If Looks Could Kill on. (Oh... the irony.) Wwwweeeee!! Why do I suddenly feel the need to play hopscotch? Anyone for a game of double dutch? Perhaps because Camera Obscura has this genteel-innocent, retro manner to their music is what brings the child out in me? Whatever the case, I like it! There's never a dull moment listening to these folks. Their album, Let's Get Out of this Country (released in 2006 on the Elefant Records label) even makes it okay to be heartbroken.
